Ullswater Walks & Hikes

Walks around Ullswater

Best Walks from Aira Force, Glenridding, Patterdale, and more

The Ullswater Way

The Ullswater Way, as well as giving you superb views of the lake itself, allows many options.

A stroll along the shore path from Patterdale to Silver Bay and back is very popular. Another option is to take the Ullswater Steamer ( ferry ) to Howtown and walk back to Patterdale / Glenridding.
If you’re thinking of doing the whole thing, maybe check out the information here.

Aira Force & Gowbarrow Park

A very popular spot in the local area.

Operated by the National Trust. A good choice if you’d like something low level with a car park, tea rooms and facilities.

Great views of the lake from the fell ( hill ) itself.

Helvellyn

The photo is looking from the summit of Helvellyn towards Striding Edge. Red Tarn is on the left. Ullswater is in the far top left.

The Glenridding Tourist Information Centre is an ideal place for advice.

They’re great for a chat about whether the above hike is for you and anyone with you.
